Romans 12 Resolution List- Pastor John

Everyone loves to start the year off with resolutions, most of them dealing with making ourselves better people. I found in scripture a nice list of 21 resolutions that can make you a better person, a more faithful follower of Christ, and a better neighbor.  So, with the first newsletter of 2018, I give you the R-12 resolution list:

  1. Be holy and pleasing to God
  2. Be transformed
  3. Be humble
  4. Be functional
  5. Be a team player
  6. Be grace filled
  7. Be a teacher
  8. Be encouraging
  9. Be sincere
  10. Be devoted
  11. Be spiritually zealous
  12. Be faithful in prayer
  13. Be hospitable
  14. Be a blessing
  15. Be always rejoicing
  16. Be harmonious
  17. Be righteous
  18. Be at peace
  19. Be forgiving
  20. Be observant
  21. Be an overcomer

My prayer for 2018 is that more and more people will read Romans 12 and live it. I pray that this R-12 way of life will become the very fabric of who we are as individuals, and as a church.  I pray for a hospitable heart for all who follow Christ.  I pray that the gifts and talents that are part of Park Avenue Christian Church be used for the glory of God.  I pray that as living sacrifices of God we use our transformed and renewed minds to help build a community that embraces the power of peace and grace and forgiveness.  I pray that this year Park Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) be a precious gift and vibrant light shining on the south side of Des Moines.  And that as overcomers in Christ, we share the powerful message of Jesus to a world that needs transformation.

Be blessed and be a blessing,

Pastor John
