Green Chalice Ministry
GREEN CHALICE MINISTRY RECYCLE BINS are strategically placed around the church. In order to take care of God’s beautiful creation we would like you to help us recycle. We have some volunteers that have graciously volunteered to take the recycling when they get full. If you would like to take part in that please let the GREEN CHALICE TEAM (see below) know.
They write: We want you to “Be a Recycling Rock Star – keep the wrong things out!”
Recycling Guidelines - You’ve heard us say it before, but when it comes to recycling, we want you to stick with the basics. This includes:
* Plastics with twist-off lids; as well as butter, cottage cheese or sour cream containers (rinsed out)
* Juice cartons (rinsed out)
* Junk mail (shredded paper needs to be in a paper bag)
* Paper or Newspaper
* Cardboard – broken down
* Aluminum & Tin Cans (rinsed out)
It’s easy to second guess yourself when you’re deciding what types of things belong in our Recycle Bins; a good rule of thumb, when in doubt – throw it out OR just ask a Green Chalice team member (Mary Hannan, Helen Harpin, Susan Johnson, or Jan Stribling).
*Let’s Keep the Wrong Things Out*
While we know your intentions may be good, when items are wishfully tossed into our bins, without sticking to the guidelines, it can turn the whole batch to trash. It’s like throwing a red sock in with a load of whites, you risk turning the whole load pink!
Items we’ve found frequently discarded among wishful recyclers include...
* Plastic bags – includes any kind of chip bags
* Paper or Plastic coffee/drink cups
* Plastic food containers
* Sucker Sticks or Candy Wrappers
* Styrofoam or plastic used for food (cups/plates/utensils)
* Kleenex
We want everyone to become a recycling rock star – spread the word so we can all become recycling experts!
